thank you so much from a freelancer
Hello, Thank you so much for all your hard work and your thoughtful interview questions. I'm a freelancer right down the road from you in Greenwood, south of you :) And I appreciate being able to listen to these podcasts on design because it helps to get me out of my little self contained design bubble. The way you ask questions and so far the way your interviewees answer them are very accessible in that they feel like normal people and not above the audience (the way that i felt that some design firm owners acted towards students or graduates in the late 90's :( ). They made me cynical of ever wanting to work for a big firm. So I stuck to small firms, print shops, and freelancing. Anyway, thank you so much for this show. There was a draught of actual design shows (except of course "design matters" that was the only go too good show for a long time) a few years ago, so it is nice to come back and search and now finally find a bunch of well produced design shows. I have my personal favorites you have interviewed because they have been design heroes to me since I saw their work since the 90's, which are Robynne Ray and Paula Scher. Of course I kept trying to master the hand done design style of Modern Dog and Art Chantry while in college maybe because I grew up in Washington state. Anyway, I was so glad to hear Robynne Ray after so many years, speak again in your interview. She is still awesome. But thanks for introducing us to new designers too. I loved loved loved the Hoodzpah interview! They were so funny. So keep up the good work in finding more interviewees. I have wrote to you on twitter on who I would love to hear from since you have asked us for input. I mentioned, Draplin, Design Army (from DC), more Pentagram designers, Sagmeister and Walsh, an advertising designer, an ex apple designer, a sports designer, a good fashion designer (zac posen?) who you can chat with about color trends and how it comes directly from fashion, maybe a designer who has an obsession with research and history and how that generates ideas for a strong brand (like myself :). I hope those ideas help. For anyone reading this besides Josh and crew, and you are obsessed with design either creating design or basking in it, this is the show for you!Read full review »
