In the first episode of our official podcast, Off The Shelf, Ledley King tells his story... the kid who grew up in Bow, east London, joined Spurs as a schoolboy aged 16 and went to the top, captained the team for seven years, led us to victory at Wembley and represented England at the World Cup. But Ledley’s story is also one of heartbreak, as a chronic knee injury eventually forced him to call time on his career aged just 31 in 2012 – Ledley opens up on his emotions on the day he was told he would have to stop playing the game he loves.
