A relatively casual but highly entertaining journey trough the Bronze Age
James Bleckley takes you on a journey trough the Bronze Age in a very casual manner, this is not what I would call a 'scholarly' podcast. He takes liberties, unapologetically ignores alternative interpretations he dislikes, but on the other hand, certainly does his homework for each episode. It is so casual in fact I almost stopped listening after the first episode, but I am very glad I did not, as it actually is very good, and as the show progresses he becomes much better at making things a little more 'historical', while keeping things light and entertaining. So if you are looking for a relatively light introduction to the Bronze Age this is a great podcast. Sometimes things will get very fragmentary and disjointed, and thus hard to follow, but this is simply the problem with the Bronze Age history in general, which is filled with massive gaps and fragementary scraps of history. He does a decent job of trying to keep things understandable and again gets much better at this as the show matures.Read full review »

This is a fantastic podcast. The episodes are well narrated and include the uncertainties inherent in history as well as some wonderfully snarky comments about morality and endless recitations. James doesn’t shy away from the less palatable portions but he keeps it family friendly. For anyone...Read full review »
