Literally Right On (Point)!
I listen to this show as often as I can, whether it is on the radio in my car on the way home from work or at work. Having them available now on Podcast is great because some of the topics really aren't that interesting and while I love Ashbrook's style and concision, I would prefer to listen to some over others. Every episode features a current topic, though he doesn't adhere strictly to politics. Talks with people like Fawaz Gerges, Irvine Welsh, and other more popular political heavyweights grace his air everyday. Also nice are the frequent appearances by Jack Beatty, who is as level-headed and witty as Ashbrook, but has the ability (not as a moderator) to weigh in politically. These are the kind of debates every family ought to be having over the dinner table! If everyone in the USA paid attention to the topics covered in this radio show, the USA would be not be full of uneducated people who are willing to vote a man into office based solely on the fact that he promised not to take the people's guns away. America needs more shows like On Point!Read full review »

Tom Ashbrook is just the best. When he's subbed my week is the lesser for it. Thank you, Mr Ashbrook and WBUR.Read full review »

Other times he completely ruins the show for me....Read full review »

I came to this podcast with great anticipation, given the reviews & my desire to find an incisive and thorough program of news analysis. What a disappointment. Tom Ashbrook seems to be no more (or less) knowledgeable than his NPR colleagues, yet his steering questions and interruptions are...Read full review »
