Not impressed so far
As an atmospheric scientist, I am utterly dismayed that all the talk about the Kinder Morgan pipeline was about Alberta's economy and barely any comment about the effects on the BC coastline and, especially, the climate system with increased greenhouse gas emissions. Jen Gerson, especially, seemed not to show any concern about the environmental impacts of increased fossil fuel production and transportation, but was just whining about leftists and environmentalists. All that talk about jobs, also, yet no talk about the automation that some oil companies like Suncor which is deploying automated trucks, thereby killing hundreds of jobs. I wrote this one episode in, yet I have updated my review in September 2018, after the revocation of the approval of the pipeline, yet still not a peep about the potential for calamitous effects of the pipeline's massive increase in tanker traffic on the marine ecosystem, nor on the climate system from increased fossil fuel burning. Wake up, Jen and Justin! Do you not care about the long term future of our species and millions of other species? Also, the segment on Iran was horribly one-sided. Yes, their government is pretty awful in terms of human rights abuses, especially of demonstrators, but neither of the hosts or the guest seemed to show any concern about the US threats to blow up the country. What this podcast really needs is some true journalism, in that in this case, a summary of the history of Iran would have been essential, from the US- and UK-backed coup in 1953 and resulting 26 years of tyranny under the Shah, which directly precipitated the 1979 Islamic Revolution and resulting further oppression of others in Iran. Please actually support your arguments with facts, not exclusively spin. Oh, and grow up a bit and quit acting like a spoiled child who doesn't get their way. (I'm looking at you, Jen.)Read full review »

Canadian media’s most boring klaxon (Ling) teams up with a union hating right wing ideologue (Gerson) for a tedious conversation about nothing of consequence. Avoid unless you are a toady of unaccountable private power or despise collective action to achieve community goals.
