Through the proverbial looking glass
This is one of the best resources I’ve found to give pilots a better understanding of the inner workings of ATC and the National Airspace System. As of today, I am a newly minted Instrument Pilot, and after surviving the COVID lockdown and associated gap in flight training, AG and RH kept me motivated to pursue all of the mountains of information needed for this rating while giving it all a humorous twist. AG’s experience with the Army is a unique perspective many aviation podcasts lack. I was an Army helicopter mechanic (15S) and I really enjoy hearing his stories out of “Fayettenam”, one of the bases where I was stationed. He also flies C12s/ King Air 200s and I think they’re pretty cool. RH is the giggly one. His plucky humor keeps the show rolling and my coworkers bewildered at my bursts of laughter while I bend wrenches at my flight school. He seems to be the ringleader of the podcast, but is always respectful to AG and others. The real, down to earth review boils down to this; these guys have a ton of experience, though they keep many of their cards professionally close to the vest, they are not afraid to tackle the tough problems and misconceptions pilots have about Air Traffic Control and good airmanship in general, and seem to have a whole heck of a lot of fun doing it! 10/10 recommend.

I started with newer episodes, but have gone back to the beginning to get the full show history. I am a relatively new Pvt Pilot, and learn something new on each episode. AG and RH have a chemistry, and the personal interactions make the show entertaining as well. I plan to be a long-time...Read full review »

Hi AG and RH, Capt Jeff put me on to your show and I'm enjoying listning immensely. Its great to hear the American Controllers perspective on things as, up to now, it has been something of a Secret Society with access only available through the special hand shake. Looking forward to sending...Read full review »

Great podcast! I fall into the last category (wanna-be pilot) although at age 16 I did Solo - didn’t go much beyond that but I’ve always felt that aviation, in all forms, is in my DNA. I’ve latched on to 5 or 6 podcasts in the last few months to get my aviation “fix” and this is the only one...Read full review »
