“There are so many personal places I have used Brené's teachings/what she shares with us all. Oprah's sharing forum is so generous to us all. Read Daring Greatly. Used it at my husband's memorial. Lived it, shared it. Watched reruns of Super Soul. So why the repetition? You know, I heard it, 'got it' the first time. But once or twice is never enough 'cause as life continues, I get more based on where I am, how I have slid out of 'practice.' E.g. Found out on C. Eve that was to be a grandmother this month!! Froze... said nothing.. was not excited although happy. Then yesterday when I thought Friday was my grandson's due date, I had a melt down as strong as when I think about losing Richard. And today, after 'hearing' this so many times, I really heard it when I needed it... "Joy is the most terrifying emotion to experience. That when we lose our tolerance for vulnerability, joy becomes forbidding." So now, I can understand and stop judging myself. I am excited now. I understand what is in the way. I wrote a huge list to Richard about all the little things I am grateful for remembering, and will continue to practice gratitude for all the little things I GET TO experience each day.
