“It’s really difficult to listen to commentary on a show about women in prison by people who’ve done no research on the issues at hand. The ignorance of all but one commentator is really depressing. The writers of this show have clearly researched the prison industrial complex, and deserve commentary from people who’ve done the same—as do the incarcerated women reflected in these stories. Maybe I sound like I’m taking the show too seriously, but having worked with the formerly incarcerated I see this show as important representation that should not be regularly undermined by uneducated podcasters. Commentary should add, not subtract.”
