I love the stories very much so far, but there’s just one thing that’s been bothering me a bit— in cop’s menagerie, I find the background music a bit too loud. I usually find looping music (such as that carnival soundtrack) quite distracting, and feel that it’s fine to replace that music with...Read full review »

Came here from Magnus Archives, this is just as good. Great storytelling and acting.

Loving this podcast. This is the best presentation of historical based fiction that one forgets its not 100% fact based. The actors draw you into their story. I am familiar with some of these historical figures. They were names. Now they are fellow human beings whose voices made me laugh and...Read full review »

Love hearing more from Gabriel Urbina. The interviews after were a nice touch. I am in constant awe of the creativity at HRP. You people are killing it! :)

I cannot wait for season 2! These stories are captivating, being written and performed spectacularily. These are intriguing and wonderful little windows into the lives of people history has forgotten. The interviews with the authors are a delightful addition. I seriously cannot get enough and...Read full review »

These historically fictional recreations are fascinating and entertaining looks at little known historical figures. The interviews with the authors add a lot of depth.

These are a bunch of historical fiction monologues about historical figures often forgotten, or sidestepped, or bystanders to a major event. I genuinely believe that it only gets better with every episode. Give "I Cannot Sleep" for an immediate idea of the amazing quality of work. And the...Read full review »

I came due to being a Magnus Archive fan. The same team have produced these highly entertaining bites of historical speculative fiction. Creative asides about people from history, with excellent production values and fine acting. Well done, guys: good job!

It's wonderful to see Newall and his team show that they can apply themselves to something outside the niches of tabletop gaming and horror. Entertaining and educational, but with emphasis on the former, these one -shot historical stories make for gripping listening.

Cool little series that delves into the more obscure - but still quite interesting - historical figures in English history.

So enjoyed ‘Strange Stars.’ Came to this as intrigued by the Outliers concept of stories from the edge of history. The story was odd and compelling. The production values are terrific - I felt cold and clammy hearing the Raven’s caw. Really enjoyed listening to this and forgot about everything...Read full review »

Rusty Quill consistently delivers a combination of great sound quality and brilliant writing, so it comes as no surprise to me that their collaboration with Historic Royal Palaces is so fantastic. The historical fiction genre is woefully underutilized and RQ is off to a powerful start with...Read full review »

An interesting take on Historical events, seeing things from the outside view of the characters on the edge of events and the margins of history. Having ony listened to the first two tales and the accompanying interviews I can see how much thought and work has gone into this production. HRP and...Read full review »

Another very well considered and great show from the creators of Rusty Quill Gaming and The Magnus Archives. The quality of content this independent company produces blows me away. Listen to everything they do!

Seems like just good short history-based weird fiction. Quality production values and capable narrators. I am confident that if the writers picked so far are a sample of what’s to come, this’ll be a quick fav of many

As a follower of both of Rusty Quill's other podcasts I had high expectations for this new offering, and I was not disappointed. The story-telling is excellent, the concept is great, and the interviews with the authors are just the cherry on an already delicious cake. I am a fan of historical...Read full review »
