A Major Achievement
Completely gripping! David Modigliani tells his family’s story with his sense of wonder brimming, and takes us fully on the ride. The level of detail in the oral histories, combined with historical documents and period media clips makes this a riveting and educational listen. And it’s full of humor too! Stanley Tucci (and others ?) animate the history in a delightful way. At its core, Pack One Bag is a love story within a love story, or maybe an entire Russian nesting doll set of love stories. David has a great voice and narrates his family’s story with a notable sweetness and gentleness; his intelligence and charming doses of self revelation win us over from the very beginning.
