The voices he does for his grandparents are insufferable. Cool story otherwise.

The best podcast just loved it. I declare a common interest as my dad Giacomo Strocchi grew up near Bologna and became a partigiano in Piedmont… during the war … but never spoke of his experiences…. So for me it was important to hear how people got through and what they experienced. I wish my...Read full review »

I really enjoyed the stories in this podcast. In the first couple episodes the use of actors to re-create the voices of earlier generations was a bit hokey. But stick with it, it gets much better as it gets deeper into the story. If you don’t know the history of what happened to people who were...Read full review »

A unique and compelling combination of personal stories, historical context, and current relevance! Such an interesting question to ponder what you yourself would do given a set of difficult circumstances. Narrative podcast at its best.

Each of us has a story, and each of our families have multiple stories. But few families have a writer with the talent and soul of David Modigliani who can bring together the threads of generations of his family and weave them into a tapestry for the ages. How many of us know the story of the...Read full review »

I enjoyed podcast very much and stories like these should continue to be told to remind of us that horror. I do agree though with another reviewer about drawing the American right today into the story. Maybe in that time it was the right but today it is the left. Look at what is going on at the...Read full review »

I just finished this and the story telling was 10/10. If you love history and want another perspective of WWII this is great. History is repeating itself and this shows it.

Spellbinding story with multiple layers: personal, family, national identity, religious persecution and world history. This show is really relevant today to help remind us of our common humanity and to resist those who wish to divide us.

This is such an amazing story and so interesting and well done! I was lucky enough to visit the “Jewish Getto” in Rome years ago not knowing at the time the real story of that area and now it makes my visit all that much more special! LOVE LOVE

I learned so much about the plight of jewish Italians during the war. I love how the family documented their experience and history and I will start that too with my family’s history in Holland during the war. Excellent writing and narrative.

This story is phenomenal!!! Someone turn this into a movie!!! My only negative is host speaking on trump. Please don’t compare the president to people like Mussolini. It’s downright wrong. Leave that stuff out and the story itself is amazing.
2convo5 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 07/30/24
I just love how the host makes negative references to Trump, yet we see how the Biden admin and some democrats are cozying up to the protesters and outright Hamas sympathizers.
