Great values, valuable advice for parents, but OH the commercials!
I'm giving this podcast five stars even though I am unsubscribing after reading this review. Odd? Yep, but that's me! : ) I am not even a parent, but I LOVE listening to Dr. Meg because I agree whole heartedly with just about everything she has to say and I strongly believe we need MORE people with strong Christian values who have the courage to speak out and say things that need to be said by more people who unfortunately are more apt these days to hide under bushels. I am fortunate to have Christian parents who provided the kind of parenting that Dr. Meg espouses - and the world is a better place with podcasters like Dr. Meg working to continue carry on those values to future generations. So why am I no longer subscribing? Simply because the only time I listen to podcasts is when I am doing my daily running - and my podcast app no longer provides the capability of fast-forwarding in 30 second increments. Unfortunately, after about episode 15, Parenting Great Kids went the way of many good podcasts and ... ugh ... acquired S P O N S O R S. Way too many of them! And the commercials innundate not only the beginning several minutes, but now the middle of the podcasts, so there's no getting away from them unless you're willing to stop in mid-run to struggle to fast-foward. Sorry, can't put up with that, and won't. I understand sponsors can be critical to keeping a podcast going, but that's a tradeoff that has to be made. Sorry. However - that is NOT to say that for the parent who isn't a runner, who sits at home listening and has the patience to put up with commercials or the ability to conveniently fast-forward through them, this is a GREAT podcast and WELL worth listening to by ALL parents for the well-being of their children, spiritually and otherwise.Read full review »
