“I used to love Party Lines… it was one of my favourite podcasts and one of the few I would listen to religiously week-in, week-out. I understood the break / temporary cancellation of the show following the last election, but remained hopeful the show might return either as the next federal election draws near or after a refresh of the show concept to be less election-centric.
Unfortunately, you have breached my patience, trust, and loyalty by using this show/channel (no pun intended) to force-feed your other unrelated content into my feed. You try to legitimize and rationalize this action by calling the latest (May 2024) episode an introduction, but it’s hardly that… it features Elamin (former PL cohost) promoting his new show without ever mentioning PL and/or whether it’ll ever come back, followed by the host of Understood (another CBC podcast) introducing herself, again with not even a faint or feigned attempt to position how that content relates to PL listeners and the original intent/purpose/content of the show.
I’m not familiar with Apple Podcasts’ terms, but can’t imagine they’d look favourably on this kind of behaviour. Terms shouldn’t matter though; do right by your listeners, act with integrity, and use good business sense… that alone should keep you in good standing 99.9% of the time.
Unfortunately, this appears to be a case of the 0.1%… and not in a good way.”
