Description
The Hindu goddess Dhumavati is the beholder of smoke or void, the power of not knowing. Dhumavati is the eternal grandmother, the hag who sees only smoke, darkness, void. She is the widow, energy without consciousness, Shakti without Shiva. Dhumavati appears as old, crooked, troublesome, restless, chaotic, depressed and is associated also with dementia. Her crows represent black magic, the dark forces. This goddess brings true knowledge through suffering. From acceptance of darkness Dhumavati brings us to silence, the power of Now which is also the power of depression as lived by Eckhart Tolle. The void or emptiness is but a smoke screen when entering deep meditation, where we have to trust and let go of the need for control. Thus life brings us situations beyond our control, so we learn to let go and meet our deepest Self.
The 10 Mahavidyas are 10 “great bodies of knowledge” where Tantra meets Advaita Vedanta (nonduality). Through these 10 goddesses we learn about the nondual nature of primordial energy or Shakti, which is also the life force. Thus 10 secret Tantric mysteries are revealed, whose power will boost your spiritual growth. Expanding mind, body and consciousness, the related practices provide powerful tools for contemplation, meditation and true connection to the life force, both inside as outside.
