The 2022 Cricket Celebration Bowl between Jackson State and North Carolina Central is the greatest HBCU football game I’ve ever seen. T’ona McBride, like me, was in Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta. She was working as a member of the Eagles football team’s equipment staff at the time, and vividly remembers the feelings of vindication and joy she felt when her beloved Eagles pulled off the upset win over the Tigers after they were cast off as an afterthought in the game’s lead up. But T’ona’s love for NC Central extends far beyond just one game.
