“I wish to write in strong support of Mr Angus Thompson’s superlative work on the podcast segment, ‘Please Explain’. I offer three points in support of increasing his reign over this corner of the news:
1. Not since Tory Maguire has Please Explain been blessed with a brilliant journalist who can let the story tell itself, rather than loading it up with the journalists’ own opinions or preconceptions (which are not news, nor analysis and less so, are interesting);
2. Mr Thompson’s voice is not annoying. This is an improvement. I did not see his face, but he certainly has a voice for radio.
3. Mr Thompson has broad appeal: he is everypersons’ person. This comes through with the easy dialogue between him and his guests and colleagues.
