The best theme park podcast
(Please note: Mugsy’s ghost threatened to throw me in Sing-Sing if I didn’t write a good review) There are two axis (axes?) on which you judge a theme park podcast: information/insiderness and comedy. Let’s set an equation of y=x, where y equals informativenss and x equals how fun/funny a podcast is. Everything above the line is 99% of theme park podcasts out there—people recycling the same news and scoops they got from Jim and Len and trying to be funny but mostly complaining. Everything below the line is podcasts that realize that, since they don’t have insider info, they should instead capitalize on the FUN of theme parks. This is basically the only equation below the line, and I’m so glad it is. While they do often discuss news and happenings in the theme park world, the podcast is at its best when diving headfirst into the nostalgia and unbridled love they have for the rides and parks that have touched their lives over the years. Tangents are frequent, but are always a ton of fun. On top of this, the guys (and their guests) are really funny. Imaginative and goofy, but in a very natural way that conveys their great chemistry. I hope this review is good enough that Mugsy’s ghost doesn’t come throw me in Sing-Sing.
