“This podcast has been invaluable. I started listening several months into this (my first) pregnancy and found their willingness to cover both/all sides of controversial topics refreshing and informative. I went from having only piecemeal understandings of various pregnancy- and birth-related topics based on friends’ experiences, to having a wealth of options and preferences to research, explore, and decide on for myself. My husband and I ended up purchasing the birth course as well, which gained us access to the Facebook community that has been a tremendous source of much-appreciated support, encouragement, empathy, positivity, and advice. The focal purpose of their podcast and birth course is to empower mothers to make informed decisions about their pregnancy and birth with confidence, excitement, and a wealth of research and knowledge.
The support I received from them personally and from others in the group recently helped me make the decision to switch providers at 28 weeks, something I was nervous to do but knew I needed to do, as I gradually realized my provider and I were not on the same page and that, if I were to stay, I would likely have a birth that looked more like her ideal than mine. I had my first appointment with my new provider yesterday, and the conversation about my birth plan could not have been more encouraging and affirming. Delayed cord clamping? Yes! Immediate skin-to-skin if possible? Absolutely. Different labor positions besides the back, if I choose? Amen. Intermittent monitoring vs. continuous? Fully support. Eating and drinking during labor? Uh, yeah, it’s a marathon. I left the office feeling so relieved and thankful that this podcast and the women behind it gave me the motivation and conviction I needed to do what is best for me and for our son (10 weeks left!). Thank you, Cortney and Stephanie!”
