Wow. Motivation for Improving Culture & Hiring
There are a lot of great nuggets of wisdom, hard-won lessons, and pro tips in here from Patty (can't wait to buy the book). And I love the juxtaposition of chunks of the interview followed by the kinds of real world conversations I'd like to think I would have with friends/colleagues in the software industry. These are challenging topics to put into practice. So glad to have this podcast as a dense-packed reminder of how things could be done better. It has also served as a timely wakeup call for me. After 20+ years building and motivating teams at different companies, I have not been as broadly impacful as I had hoped at my current spot. Outside of my own product team, I feel stifled in a command-and-control culture that I cannot break through. I can hear Patty now: "I think it is time to move on and avoid doing yet anoher performance review." I've made an impact, left the "campsite" better than I found it, and have ensured proper documentation and training for succession has always been in place.Read full review »

I really enjoy the switch between interview and reflection by Patrick and his team. The key points are highlighted and dissected. Looking forward to more from PtH.
