Stellar stuff - board gaming with panache
This has fast become one of my favourite podcasts. At this point I can’t even remember how I stumbled across it, but I highly recommend anyone with an interest in board games (particularly at the mid-heavy end of the spectrum) to tune in. The discussions between Jim and Eric are entertaining and informative, and the rapport they have built over the numerous shows shines through. It really does feel like listening in to two very good friends shooting the breeze about one of their favourite hobbies, albeit with a professional quality that really keeps you engaged throughout. Their dialogue feels very natural, and yet they manage to hit all the right beats and have a great balance between in-depth analysis and comparisons of the latest games they’ve been playing, along with lighter segments on anything topical outside the world of gaming. I now look forward to their digressions just as much as I do the board game discussion, and if you have even a passing interest in music and whisky then you’ll find there’s even more to keep you interested, as these often form part of the show as well. They have just completed their 100th episode, and now’s as good a time as ever to listen in. There’s a great back catalogue covering a huge number of classic games, and I’m pretty sure if you give it a try you’ll find something that appeals.

I find myself agreeing with a lot of the points they bring up and I generally fall in line...Read full review »

I think what I like most about Punching Cardboard is that it’s just a couple of guys sitting around talking about boardgames. This might not seem like much, but it’s the fact they don’t just skim over multiple games to try and get a bunch of content in, but that they sit down and spend time...Read full review »
