“I have followed Jay for many years through the National Review and the New Criterion. I always thought of him as a "nice guy" and a great music critic. However, I find his interviewing skills to be lacking becasue he never, ever pushes back. He interviews Fred Hiatt of the Washington Post Opinion page and they lament about Muslims being abused in China, but crickets about Post's efforts to destroy America from within. It would be great if Jay had asked what it is like to run an opinion section for the richest man in the world and is he influenced by him. No, that might make Jay seem mean.
In his interview of Dr. Mankiw, we are treated to more vacuous talk. Dr. Mankiw says that as an economist we need to look at all policies as having pros and cons. During the discussions of UBI, Jay never follows up by asking directly the pros and cons. All we get, is it mighht be nice. At the end of the interview we are that Dr. Mankiw is voting for Biden, becasue of Trump's character, you know Ukraine and all of that, but failing to mention Biden's "character issues" around, you know Ukraine, China, lying about Gen Flynn's prosecution, etc. Its farce of course because like every Bush appointee the underlying needof the eliteis to get back to that "global thing" and put the deplorables in their place.
The interview was a waste of time, and added nothing to the reall issues facing us today in a di vided county. My podcast time is limited and I will be listening anymore.”Read full review »
