From a Historian
I love them, but I feel like sometimes they don't do enough research. I'm currently listening to Marie Antionette, and they keep referring to the Princess de Lamballe as the Princess of Savoy, which she might have been, but that isn't how she is referred to. Pronunciation is very important and it's really easy to just put a word in google translate and go off of that. If you're going to tell a side story, you have to finish it and say where you heard or read it. Sources matter. I love that they cover people that we don't hear about all that often, Empress Wu, Lucretia Borgia etc. and I can forgive blunders on them. Marie Antoinette is a huge presence still to this day, they got a lot of it right, but they could have split this into two hour long episodes to better tell her story. Her childhood had a huge affect on her as a woman, and while they covered her education and relationship with her father, they neglected to mention how her sister-in-laws death is the reason she became queen of France. Elizabeth was important, because she was supposed to marry Louis XV, but she contracted smallpox and so there was an agreement that Maria Carolina would marry his grandson. Carolina was Antoine's (her family called her this) favorite sister, as she was closest in age to her. Josepha, their sister-in-law, contracted smallpox and died, Maria Theresa forced her daughter Maria Josepha to visit the grave because they shared a name, but then she died as well. Carolina then had to marry the son of the King of Naples who Maria Josepha was supposed to marry. Carolina was shipped off and thus Marie Antoinette existed. Please, it's not difficult to find this out, anyone who has a slight love of Antoine would know this.Read full review »

A really fun to listen podcast! Besides getting to know a bit more about the so often obscure stories of really admirable women in history, I also find myself laughing out loud at the hilarious jokes of Katie and Nathan. By far, one of my favorite podcasts to listen ! Lots of love to you both!
