Conjoured up memories of Kinkladze's dribbles, Busst's leg ouch, Beresford and Barton looking like the blokes from Dodgy at swashbuckling's Newcastle, everything about Euro '96, trying to sign Romario and Bebeto from previously-unheard-of Brazilian clubs on Sensible World of Soccer, secretly supporting Croatia at France '98, Tony Adams breaking Steve Morrow's arm after the cup final, Hugo Porfirio's loan spell at West Ham and Harry Redknapp signing Marco Boogers for a record £1m, despite never seeing him play (and his subsequent debt assault on Gary Neville), among others.
