“I am incredibly disappointed in the lack of research into a specific topic. I’m tired of Rabid throwing out blasé vague comments based on her opinion or on a topic she knows nothing about when it absolutely deserves understanding and clarification.
The throwaway comments about Robert Pickton possibly being “innocent” was the moment she lost all credibility to me. I can no longer see her as someone who stands up for what is right, I do not see her as being someone who puts integrity into her work, nor someone who cares about the victims in the cases her podcasts cover.
Her moral compass stands with whoever delivers her a good pitch on an edgy and shocking documentary, no longer on facts or research she’s done on her own.
Before discussing Robert Pickton and his many victims I believe Ellyn and Rabia need to be recognizing the history of MMIW, how law enforcement treats indigenous people in Canada, how law enforcement dismissed these women and their families, and why now dismissing Pickton's guilt can be seen as a tool of white supremacy. Rabia regularly brings up injustice against black and brown people in America but on a topic about indigenous people she’s completely dismissive? She admitted knowing very little about the case but wanted to mention he “might be innocent”. Why would someone with integrity in their work never bother to look into anything about the case, about witnesses and survivors, she’d rather wait for the Hulu documentary to come out. 🙄
She’s literally taking the word of “lead investigators” as gospel (lead investigators who are also clearly part of a shocking documentary that will gain them an audience and make Hulu richer) when investigators are the ones who have ignored MMIW for decades, the have ignored the murder of sex workers and literally ignored all of the victims found on Picktons farm. They dismissed a living victim who Pickton viciously attacked! Pathetic.
When Ellyn brought up Robert Pickton’s death Rabia bulldozed it a “giggle giggle he might be innocent”, if she had no actual information to back up her claims she should not have made the statement.
It’s not secret that many people, who have actually done research on the topic, believe his brother likely also murdered some of these women, or at the very least he knew it was happening, and possibly some of the women were victims from the hells angels, but to have the ignorance to say he “might be innocent” while admitting you don’t have any knowledge on the case at all is irresponsible. You are an intelligent powerful women, do better.”Read full review »
