missing a certain je ne sais quoi
The Atlantic magazine has long been one of my favorites, but although I do not dislike this podcast, neither does it quite rise to the same level of "journalism par excellence" that I have come to expect. Odd, because so far the featured guests have nearly all been regular contributors to the magazine, many of whose writings I have great respect for. But the tone of their discussions -- so well reasoned and balanced in written form -- feels markedly narrower and more biased in real time.Maybe this podcast would be better served with a different panel of hosts (no offense to Matt, Jeff, and Alex)? A broader stable of guests? I keep listening for a breakthrough -- not sure what exactly I'm wanting different, but hoping for it nonetheless.Read full review »
