“Sorry Kathy, but I feel like I have to write this. I'm a real estate investor and I've been enjoying this podcast since I discovered it about 2 weeks ago. However, while listening to today's podcast I was really surprised and confused by your unrelated-to-RE and inaccurate list of what makes a sociopath, and how "that does sound a little bit like Donald Trump".
I have a lot of problems with this portion of the podcast today:
- 3 entire minutes on a daily podcast that usually lasts 5-6 minutes (not counting the 1.5-2 min advertisement for your real estate group/website at the end of EVERY episode), 3 minutes where you attempt to define sociopaths in obvious (and later, admitted) relation to Trump. along with another 2-3 minutes of anti-Trump sentiment. We don't get to anything Real Estate related until the 6:30 mark.
- There is no mention of ANY of this 6-minute topic in the description of today's podcast episode, though it takes up the first 50% of the total time.
- You claim the source of your comments/description of "Sociopaths" is from Wikipedia (3:23), when Wikipedia doesn't even have an article on "Sociopaths". It automatically redirects to Psychopathy, but is also listed as an AKA for Antisocial personality disorder. Sociopath is not listed in the article for Narcissistic personality disorder, which sounds much more like what you are trying to describe. This really confused me and leads me to really question your sourcing for other podcasts.
- Wikihow has a page on How to Spot a Sociopath, but Wikihow is totally unrealted to Wikipedia. After reviewing Wikihow's page, this is clearly the source of your list, but there are still inaccuracies - you say "they tend to be highly intelligent", when wikihow says "some of the famous sociopaths possess a strong mental acumen" - not the same thing. You leave out the key phrase "at first" when Wikihow says they are "extremely charming -- at first", and wikihow later explains they are polar, often going from extremely charming to cold and distant. There are a number of other things that do NOT sound like Trump that you leave out: Few real friends, not in touch with family members or friends from the past, don't like eye contact, they stay eerily calm, prey on the week and avoid other strong people.. It seems you cherry picked a number of things and are forcing it to make it to sound more like Trump.
- Other comments you make about sociopaths, before you claimWikipedia as your source, are inaccurate and offensive: "Sociopaths are the best actors in the world" - Are Daniel Day Lewis, Jennifer Lawrence, Julia Roberts, and Denzel Washington sociopaths? "Sociopaths are masters of psyclogy, have suble ways of entrancing the masses." Says who? I found nothing in Wikihow or anywhere else that suggests "entrancing the masses" is a common trait of sociopaths
I was very disappointed in this episode. I don't listen for extreme political opnions and poorly informed psycological analysis. If the future, please stay on topic - real estate investments & news for investors - and avoid areas where you are NOT an expert, including psychology and politics.”Read full review »
