“Your podcast has been so helpful.
I’d love to hear a show about when he’s doing work on himself and making good positive changes but b/c of being burned by more than 5 different counselors he isn’t interested in counseling or even coaching.
We’ve been through so much bad advice. We’ve been so many hurtful things and given such bad advice by well-meaning pastors, counselors, and psychologists, and groups. It actually drew out the entire issue. My husband didn’t truly turn away from his addiction for 32 years. I’ve been so hurt by all this well meaning advice too.
Now that he is committed to change he is adamant about not going to counseling or groups.
He is doing well. He has made good changes in himself. He’s a read several books and is a totally different and better person than he was before he renounced his addiction (for real) this time.
There is way more to it than I can share here.
What can we do next? He’s doing well but I’m afraid that his addict brain doesn’t have the needed tools for long term recovery.
It’s been about 8 months since he was Discovered and he has been transparent, honest, and open since then. He and I have both done a lot of work on ourselves and our relationship.”
