ReelBlend
Welcome to ReelBlend, the podcast where two of the hosts still haven't quite realised that the other one gets more passionate about Man of Steel than Goodfellas. While obviously wrong about LOTR overall, Host A seems to be the only person alive who is willing to point out that Samwise is a soppy drag on 2/3 of the trilogy and the Frodo/Sam/Gollum arc is desperately dull. He also rightly points out that Forrest Gump is a deeply uncomfortable character. Although Host B has 500 rotating movies in their top ten of all time, they are also the most influential critic of the 3. Their ability to make an impact lands them the most interviews and online followers. Although he committed the cardinal sin of rewatching Quantum of Solace, in the early days of the podcast Host C was a reliable rock, calling out any hyperbolic nonsense he found himself surrounded by. It seems that over time osmosis has eroded away at this, and he now tolerates more of it. Why did he let Host A say, "Infinity War is great because it let the bad guy win which was so unformulaic"? Why didn’t he say "No... Marvel announced two films from the start. Ending the first one by giving the bad guy the upper hand is very common and you are now claiming to treat IW and Endgame as one film anyway!" Why also, did he let Host B name Zodiac Fincher’s best film on 4 separate shows, Social Network "one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen in my life" and Gone Girl a "masterpiece" only to later say that "Fincher’s best films were shot on film" during one of his "film is better than digital" tangents? Why didn’t he demand an explanation of how The Game can beat any of those films? Will he start calling these things out again in 2022? The producer of Reel Blend runs a Blend Game - he seems to be having fun coming up with as many editions as possible that result in Host C naming Jurassic Park the winner followed by reminding everyone that The Lost World is OK because it has a very iconic Spielbergy moment in it. Fun fact – Real Blend was founded by the 3 last surviving critics yet to watch Train to Busan, presumably because it wasn’t directed by the Russos. MementoRead full review »

I’ve been a huge BDK guy since the junkies days and we share a very similar perspective on movies (except for Ant-Man and Thor: Ragnarok 😂😂). Love listening to the show and all of the reviews and discussion.
