“Big fan-boy of the early stuff, it felt really focussed and purposeful, cathartic and professional. With Alex, Ian, and Dorian in every episode the quality of discourse remained excellent (even if there was quite a lot of seemingly random swearing).
Unfortunately there has been a drop in the consistency. It broadly depends on which presenters are on a particular episode but some members of the team can really feel like youtube-quality presenters with a lot of similes and interjections such as ‘like’ and ‘erm’. This is obviously fine but the tone of the show has switched from excellent journalism to, sometimes, opinion work. Conversely some guests have been excellent, some poor, but that’s to be expected.
Also, as one may expect, I’m not a huge fan of delaying a current affairs programme for non-subscribers, often the subject matter is a tad out of date, but interestingly this was less of an issue when the consistence of content was excellent.”
