Mike Duncan is a modern Edward Gibbon. He did for revolutionary history what that man did for Rome.

This is my favorite podcast. I am still. In elementary school and a love for history. I love it because he puts in so much amazing facts I makes simple enough that I can understand what he is talking about. This is really a amazing podcast!

By the end of it I came away with a much clearer understanding of socialism and the many shades thereof. And generally, Revolutions does a great job by differentiating between the “political question” —do we have rule of law and equal rights?— And the “social question — are we going to protect...Read full review »

Riveting retelling of history. Narrated in a way that is easy to absorb but still engaging.

This is my favorite podcast of all time. Mike makes the content approachable and digestible for the layperson. His hardeeharhar awkward dad sense of humor and little quips can be riotously hilarious and often come totally out of the blue. I look forward to them most of all. Please recommend to...Read full review »

Talking about history is an art of balancing between minutia and the big picture. To not get lost in the weeds, yet be true to what actually happened. To not miss any interesting anecdotes, but not let them overtake the narrative. Mike Duncan succeeds at this with flying colors. You are never...Read full review »

Excellent vocal tone, great sense of humor. very well verses in his subject matter, as he was with the History of Rome. Unfortunately, since all these historical events run concurrently across ALL the revolutions it is often necessary to refer back to other revolutions to tell the overall...Read full review »

Mike gracefully stumbles into a remarkable story tying together the lives and antics of curious characters from all across the Atlantic. It is tragic, heroic, and most importantly, revolutionary. It took him like 10 years to write and produce this podcast. It was worth it. Historians will cite...Read full review »

For hundreds of hours I’ve listened to Mike Duncan on walks with my newborn child. I am very grateful that my mundane strolling around town is turned into intellectual moments. Thank you so very much!

About halfway through the final season on the Russian revolution and although it's helpful for broad brushstrokes, I'm also reading a scholarly history book on the same topic and I have to say, Mike's biases against the Bolsheviks and his sympathetic attitude towards certain...Read full review »

What Mike Duncan took 10 years to produce I’ve listened to in 3. Don’t take that to mean I was bored with it because every episode of this is gold; I’m just easily distracted. This is a fantastic investment from the Ken Griffey Jr. of history podcasters; maybe I undersold that a little? Mike can...Read full review »

This is the best history podcast I have ever heard. I love it, and it is so immersive. I am only a kid, and that attributes to saying how awesome this is, for all audiences. I love this podcast! I have listened to every episode of every season at least twice, it’s so good. My favorite seasons are seasons 1 and 3, but they are all very good, even the Russian Revolution season. Check out the History of Rome podcast and his two books as well.

I was sad when History of Rome was done, but Mike Duncan took me on yet another journey.
