At least, in my Australian world, there is no debate as to whether you love, or hate, Peter Allen. He has, over time, transcended the judgements we usually ascribe to celebrities. Peter Allen is a national deity and his song, I Still Call Australia Home, our unofficial national anthem. As an expat, I can tell you that – play that song amongst a group of Australians who are far from home – and the tears that accompany its playing, they will be real.
