Another stunning look by potentially award-winning broadcaster Amy Upright into such a tragic event. Her ability to distill the story into its vital elements is unparalleled

I stumbled across this podcast accidentally & am glad I did. It is hands down the best true crime podcast I’ve come across. Small town murders rarely get the attention they deserve. This was one of them. Thank you to CBF & RNZ for shedding light on this otherwise little known crime....Read full review »

The American host has completely missed the mark! Trying to overdramatise the story for clout & twist the words of those interviewed. Hasn’t done her research on NZ in advance for instance referencing the police with guns & them having to reply they’re not armed in NZ! Seems completely...Read full review »

Took me a few episodes to get the angle, but soon I was roaring at Killjoy’s blend of dry and very silly. It eviscerates the sameness (and often exploitation) found in most every true crime podcast. Really enjoyed it!

Very funny and clever 😀

Lmao how do people believe this is real?!? As a satire this is hilarious. Definitely worth the listen. 10/10 recommend

Just dreadful - not funny, witty, thoughtful or entertaining in the slightest. I implore you give this a wide berth - I’m regretting listening to as much as I did before drawing these conclusions. If The Office UK got a 5 star review for its use of satire, this show doesn’t deserve 0.05 stars....Read full review »

I’m only complaining because this podcast is trying to get popular off the back of actual true crime, yet it’s all fake, made up, no town nor murder exited. Apparently it’s meant to be a parody of true crime, but the humour is weak at best. Utter junk! If the concept was promoted under comedy,...Read full review »

To the people who don’t get it, it’s a satire you numbskulls. And a really funny one at that.

This podcast is terrible, and that’s being generous. I just can’t figure out if it is a pisstake or not?!? The dramatisations are horrible. Do not waste your time.

Not sure if this is meant to be a real story? Sounds scripted and badly at that
Ani 2650 via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 10/21/19
I think the story behind this podcast would actually be quite interesting but I can’t bring myself to listen to any more episodes of this series (I have listened to two) due to the bizarre, “breathy”, sexual tone of the narration that confuses the listener. I can’t figure out whether the narrator...Read full review »

The narrator is hard to listen to, over dramatic and fake. Some of the guests also don’t sound genuine, like they are scripted. Ruined the point of the story.
Ellen_70 via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 10/20/19
Really? Do Americans like their stories told like this!! Awful!! Hard to listen to. By the way Mulled wine is a traditional European drink generally made at Christmas.

Sorry I don’t get this, it is obnoxious
youcannotbeaerious via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 10/18/19
Is the narrator trying to be cool or something? So annoying.
shell_pommie via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 10/16/19
Narrator terrible. Cringeworthy/difficult to listen to
Teeo888 via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 10/15/19
A parody of true crime podcasts that had lots of laugh out loud moments. It is done so well and absolutely nails the feel of a true crime podcast. So funny and I find myself eagerly awaiting each new episode.

Just. Yes. Give it a listen, then tell your mates, tell your mum, your dog, your wife, your wife's lover. Do it. Have a laugh.Read full review »

So funny, loving it. Spot on satire and well produced.
Alex, NZ via Apple Podcasts · New Zealand · 10/01/19
Totally up there with the Wellington Paranormal / What we do in the shadows style of humour. A satirical US perpective on NZ culture. Dead pan yet overdramatic. Love it!
Shovel mum via Apple Podcasts · New Zealand · 10/01/19
This is ridiculous. Overly-dramatic, poorly-acted and clearly fabricated. There’s nothing New Zealand about it. Don’t bother.
Jade Rabbit87 via Apple Podcasts · New Zealand · 09/30/19
Appallingly over dramatic narration. About 3 minutes explaining how a key in a lock opens a door. It’s only New Zealand, not another galaxy.
TLN65 via Apple Podcasts · New Zealand · 09/30/19
What is this. It’s an embarrassing representation of New Zealand. Don’t bother listening!
