Being Killed and Remade, and Over Again
I was lucky to find Rookie during an in between stage, where what I needed was found in the stories and interviews and art work created for Rookie--I took solace in the humor and found a genuine sense of myself, when I read pieces that shared a similar confluence of the experiences I was trying to make sense of. As a mother and full time art teacher, I have moments where I rely on podcasts to get through my commute and to just, detox. A podcast version of Rookie makes me feel similar to how Hilton Als describes his friendship with Tavi (as he stated in a talk I attended)--I feel like I am "being killed and remade," when listening to the Rookie podcast, and I am all the more better for it.Read full review »

Listening to the Rookie podcast feels like hanging out with my coolest, laid back intellectual dream friends. Tavi brings out a very genuine and human side of the people she interviews. Basically the only podcast I have to listen to as soon as it comes out. 🌸

Rookie has been such a positive, smart and empowering force from day one, so it seems like a no brainer for the Rookie podcast to exist AND NOW IT DOES. Rookie writing is always so human and personal and it's very nice to hear some of the voices involved. :)Read full review »
