I'm really hooked!
The best history podcast I've run into. Mark Schauss is well spoken, has a good voice for delivery, and manages to tell this (good chunks of which I knew little about in the first place) story well. You feel as if he's giving a private talk to you about the stream of Russian history, with side comments on how he interprets key events - the why of what happened! It's a survey of the topic, and according to his choice of events. If you're looking for deep and in-depth detail, in absolute chronological order, you may be frustrated. He gives you the framework and mentions key sources; go there for the in-depth treatment. (I've already picked up six books from his sources.)Read full review »

More reviews of Russian Rulers History Podcast
I enjoy history, but had very little knowledge of Russian history. Mark does a great job researching his topics and preparing his podcasts. My son and father are also hooked on to the podcasts--three generations; not bad!

This podcast is excellent. The audio quality is a little poor on the first few episodes but the quality of the content easily makes up for it. The pace of the podcast is perfect and the level of detail makes it engaging and not overwhelming. An excellent podcast- highly recommended.
