Russian Rulers History
This podcast gives a great insight into the history of Russia; but from the perspective of its rulers from the earliest times. The author (and podcaster) has clearly taken the trouble to research the topic. Every now and then there may be a quirky excursus ("Slaphot") into some other aspect of Russian history, not necessarily concentrating on a Ruler. I've listened to this podcast from the beginning. Initially it was hard going, as the sound quality quite frankly, awful. However, it has improved consistently and I would recommend that any new listener persevere through the first few episodes; it is well worth it. Occasionally, Mark Schauss stumbles over some of the names (today I heard the Battle of Balaclava being pronounced "Balakavla" and field "Martian" instead of field marshal!). However, these verbal stumbles have, at least to me, become an endearing characteristic of the podcast and don't really detract from the rich vein of information being shared. I recommend this podcast.Read full review »

If you want a good show about an interesting topic then this podcast is for you. It's rough around the edges at the moment but I see great potential here and I think that before long this will be fantastic instead of just good. Still worth a listen though.Read full review »
