This is a fun and informative show highlighting a region and its film history that I had no prior knowledge of. Tune in for great dives into Russian cinema and prepare to be entertained!

An educated and passionate look into the cinema of a world that deserve exposure and dissection. Well put together and well executed in such a manner that you will find yourself looking into history that you may have relegated to the sidelines prior.

Whether you’re into Russian and Soviet cinema or not, this is well worth a listen. A passionate host makes it as fun as it is informative.

What a fun and enjoyable podcast. The topic is quite fascinating but the Russian culture can be intimidating, yet this podcast helps the listener to break through the mysticism of Russian culture. Over all I quite enjoyed this podcast. Solid recommend.

I’ve been listening to this podcast for almost a year now. It’s exactly what I was looking for - entertaining, thoughtful discussion about Russian and Soviet cinema (as well as films about Russia). Ally, the host, is infectiously passionate about Russian-related movies! He’s always got something...Read full review »

I know the producer, but that doesn't detract from the eclectic range of films and the interesting and enjoyable conversations. One of my favourite film podcasts. Could do with being mixed a little louder, but, ya know, nothing's perfect.Read full review »

But this show is a fun time. Ally is warm and fun, and his appreciation of Russian culture and film is contagious. You’ll get both Russian-made films, and plenty of outside looks at the culture from other countries.

An excellent host and consistantly interesting guests, discussing classic Soviet and contemporary Russian (and Russian affiliated) films, often diving headfirst into the sorts of films that most cinephiles only whisper about. Every day a new episode is released is a good day!

Each episode Ally and a guest review a film that is either Russian made or has some connection with Russia. The guests will sometimes share interesting observations based upon their own backgrounds. The episode featuring the film “Brat” had a fascinating discussion about Russian gangs and tattoo...Read full review »
