Vikings, according to the experts
When I first started to listen to Saga Thing, I assumed I knew quite a bit about Vikings and the Nordic culture. It didn’t take long for me realize I had a hell of a lot to learn. Professors John and Andy are brilliant and comedic hosts that take the listener through the Icelandic Sagas, at present anyways, both the well known ones like Njal’s Saga and Graettir’s Saga and the more obscure ones like Ref the Sly and Thorstein the White. They use synopsize (is that a word) the text then critically analyze it to discover more about the Icelandic culture of the time as well as how it relates to present day culture. They rate the sagas on various and humorous topics at the end to round out their fantastic show. Not only are they great teachers, but they are great entertainers as well.

This is the only podcast I listen to. After hearing this any other podcast of this variety is far inferior. Andy and John do an amazing job teaching the listeners on the Icelandic sagas and other saga age lore

I finished my doctorate...Read full review »
