“I love 70's Drive-In/Grindhouse movies and any other films related to this Genre. I always have movie related podcasts playing in my headphones as I paint, mow the grass or do other projects. The Saturday Night Freak Show is one of my very favorite shows. Entertaining, informative and enjoyable. Plus whenever we are listening to movie reviews, especially regarding those classics that we have grown emotionally attached to, we tend to get defensive when reviewers poo-poo or downplay important aspects of those films. SNFS does not do that. They are respectful and it's obvious they have a love of these lurid cinematic treasures that have defined our lives. They are very informed but not know-it-alls. When they are unsure of an aspect of a certain film, they just say that rather than fake their way through it. I am not certain of everyone's age but I do get the impression that they are different and each reviewer brings that knowledge base to the discussion. Over the years I have come across many movie podcasts with younger commentators that dont have the cultural/historical perspective to be able to make comments and critique movies because they don’t know or dont care what came before it. Dont get me wrong - they can be very critical of certain films. But that criticism is based on facts, perspective and production qualities. Over the years I have made it a point to see as many movies as I can but every 5 or 6 weeks, SNFS brings one to the table that I missed or had a pre concieved notion on it's entertainment quality: The Arrival, Slither, Train To Busan. Then it's a rush to Ebay, Neflix or Shudder to check it out! Trust me because I trust them- this is the real deal! Hats off to Colin, Sean, Holly and Michaela. Best wishes for a long running podcast!!!”Read full review »
