“I'm a 40 year old engineer who was searching for another interesting science podcast. I'll admit that the cute logo pulled me in for a listen. Oh the pain! It was like stepping back 5 years in the podcast time machine. 5 minutes into the podcast (1/4 of my commute time) and not one word of interesting content! They spend way too much time in sickening personal babble about what they are drinking and how everyone is feeling. First piece of advice... NOBODY CARES BUT YOU!
Real podcasters, successful podcasters, have stopped doing this sort of thing years ago. A good podcast is a short, tight podcast devoid of personal anecdotes and "shout outs". Less is more. Brutal editing is a good thing. If you aren't into real content within 60 seconds, I'm out. For examples of excellent podcasts, see "Skeptoid" (short and sweet, 100% content), and "The Skeptic's Guide to the Universe" (roundtable with minimal banter).”Read full review »
