Brutally obnoxious hosting/writing
I am deeply ambivalent about this podcast. The topics are great, but the hosting and writing are just awful. The content should be what drives the show. It is the star. Host/writers just stay out of the way as much as possible and the show will be substantially better. The snarky and irreverant little quips are the podcast equivalent of nails on a chalkboard. When they are are putting together the epsiodes, who is thinking, "You know what would really punch this story up? If we added stupid and juvenile little quips and then followed that up with, 'kiddinggggg!!!!'" Seriously, who is thinking that? Clearly someone is. It so obnoxious that I really don't know if the great content can overcome just how grating everything else about the show is. Lest anyone think this is because the host is a woman, the same argument can most certainly be made about "Reply All." Interesting content with brutally obnoxious hosts/writing. I understand that this whole style of podcasting stems from the Ira Glass tree, but it is just brutal. You are doing a podcast called "Science VS." Stop trying to be hip/informal/irreverant. It makes the whole podcast sound like it is put together by a bunch of idiot teenagers.Read full review »

More reviews of Science Vs
I'm biased because I work at Gimlet but I think this is most companionable podcast about science in existence, period. Excited for season 2.Read full review »

I have listened to the first two episodes and really enjoyed them! The attachment parenting episode is particularly timely with my seventh week old in my arms.
