“This is precisely the type of podcast that I've been hoping to find for years! I've always been a big fan of movie soundtracks, but it's very rare to find this kind of thoughtful, in depth analysis of a movie score, especially for moves with "less serious" music, like The Pink Panther or On Golden Pond. I love that they've chosen to start with the AFI top 25 list -- this is as good a list as any for pulling out some of the most notable scores in the history of film, but I even enjoy listening to Andy and Jon dissect the less stellar members of the list, like The Mission. They are very even-handed about praising the musical gems in a film, even when the film itself is pretty flawed. The discussions also have just the right level of laymen speak vs. technical terms -- smart enough for a musician, but understandable enough for everyone. Just wonderful.”Read full review »
