I first discovered Seventh Row while looking for writings on Joanna Hogg, finding their excellent, essential book, which I immediately bought and greedily consumed. I began listening to the associated podcast and was immediately hooked by their passionate, critical and fun breakdowns (

For all the hundreds of movie review podcasts out there, there are surprisingly few that consistently take interesting films and discuss them thoughtfully and in detail. This is one of those few. The hosts have somewhat different taste than I do, but that’s part of what I find useful, as many of...Read full review »

Naomi Kawase’s has been my first episode. A truly formidable podcast and a compelling vindication of a very maligned and underappreciated filmmaker.

A must-listen podcast for independant cinema fans. The discussion are always so clever and offer a deep analysis of small gem films. On the top of that, the hosts seem very sympathic and are pleasing to listen to!

Orla and Alex are incredibly insightful and have great taste in film. I love how they actually let their guests talk and truly listen to them! Between this, the site, and all of the ebooks, you really can’t go wrong with Seventh Row.

Smart and comprehensive talks about (mostly) recent movies and TV. Especially good for festival coverage or Canadian cinema, but also if you love British period drama and that whole industry! Highly recommended.

I discovered the Seventh Row crew via their excellent Céline Sciamma ebook (essays and interviews with Sciamma and about her films) and found so much more. Great articles, ebooks galore, and this podcast? What a great resource. Must subscribe if you want to hear intelligent and insightful...Read full review »

Great podcast covering feminist and Canadian cinema, featuring some super interesting guests. I especially recommend the episode about Women in Horror cinema. An interesting side effect of listening to this podcast is that I've been turned on to a series of movies that I would never have...Read full review »
