Full of useful bits
I've been enjoying this podcast very much. I'm relatively good at sewing (I can make a dress with sleeves, bathing suit that fits, backpack with zippers, cloth diaper, Waldorf doll, and much more), but I've never formally learned to sew. I'm picking up lots of useful tidbits from listening to Mallory and Zede. I finally figured out what that weird foot with the wide gap is. I threaded my old school serger with greater ease. I have better understanding of tension. I can visualize bias better than I could before. And lots more! Some tips have already been put into action, and others will be pulled out one day in the future (like if I'm ever sewing beaded fabric, I will use painters' tape and a hammer). They are entertaining to listen to as well, and I enjoy hearing how sewing fits into their lives. I laughed so hard at "Bill the Chauvinist," and usually get a kick out of their intro chatter. If I had to give negative points, I guess I would complain that sometimes the intro and closing are much louder than the body of the podcast, but I can live with that. Pretty minor complaint. And sometimes when they talk about *their own* shop, I'm like "Yeah... I live 2234 kilometres from your store. This isn't relevant to me personally." But it's usually interesting even if it isn't personally relevant, and I've learned things about what dealers and sewing shops ought to do, so I know what to ask my own local store for. So again, that's not actually a problem. Two thumbs up from this sewer! (Or should I say "sewist" and get Zede all fired up???)Read full review »
