“I love a lot of parts about the podcast but have noticed a lot of inconsistencies while listening the past few months. There seems to be a lot of family practices that they just dub as Montessori because they decided them to be i.e. respectful parenting, on demand breastfeeding, no sleep training, etc. While some of these things are great and I agree with them they don’t cite or quote Montessori on any of it and basically say we think this is Montessori because.... we basically decide it is. There are a lot of very very well educated Montessorians such as Lillard, Jessen, Cushman who have written very reputable and popular texts that directly contradict some of the things that they say on their podcast are “Montessori because it is”. How the speakers raise their families is their business but it’s very confusing and inconsistent to listeners for it to be called a Montessori podcast when it’s just the way they raise their families... doesn’t make it Montessori. Also Nicole constantly talks over Amy. It’s very noticeable and kind of jarring since Amy is the one with the AMI education. Otherwise the podcast banter is delightful and relatable in a lot of ways. Will keep listening but won’t necessarily go for Montessori parenting advice.”
