Driving along, listening to the brilliant interview with David Nicholls I pulled over just so I could order his book ‘You are here’ - and it is living up to expectations.

Love book/author podcasts and this is by far the best. Having Simon and Matt back like the good old days makes me so happy and the banter is great! Good spread of books and authors and I have now read a couple recommended that I wouldn’t normally have chosen and couldn’t put them down. Keep doing...Read full review »

Books of the year is my favourite podcast, Simon and Matt keep me company during my ironing sessions (I hate ironing) so their easy banter and great interviews are fabulous. Being a book worm this is great for recommendations and great to hear about the book from the writers perspective. Love...Read full review »

Great to listen to while vigorously sanding down my skirting boards. Fun fact, in the 1990’s Matt wrote his university dissertation on the French TGV railway.

Highly enjoyable and engaging podcast with frank, insightful content. I really enjoy both Simon’s and Matt’s interviewing style - warm, knowledgeable and wry. They skilfully make their guests comfortable, while often bringing new information to light.

I really enjoy this although I don’t always like the sort of books reviewed. Where is the show? There have been no episodes since early August.

Cannot believe I haven’t seen this before now. Didn’t realise how much I’ve missed Matt. It’s a joy.

Fantastic podcast and a great interview with David Baddiel. The unfortunate irony wasn’t missed that the advert following the podcast was for To Olivia, the Roald Dahl biopic 🙁

I only discovered this podcast a month or so ago. Not only is it great, I have the whole back catalogue to go through. I’m a book lover and have really missed Simon’s book club on Radio 2. Simon and Matt are obviously book lovers themselves and that really makes a difference to the quality of the...Read full review »

What? Apple only offers 5 stars? This show goes up to at least 11. Informative, witty, and often profound — and that’s just the guests. Best of all, Simon and Matt are like a well oiled machine <cue Matt’s laugh> so that, even when things go slightly awry (you know, when Matt had horsey...Read full review »

I listen to this wonderful podcast whilst jogging. Simon and Matt are so funny that I am often left feeling like I’ve escaped from somewhere as I run along laughing madly to voices only I can hear... The interviews are superb and, by the time I get home (seriously out of breath), I’ve got a new...Read full review »

I’ve just got back into listening to this podcast, after initially discovering it about a year ago and then getting distracted by a multitude of other podcasts and, well, life. I now listen religiously on my otherwise tedious walks to and from work and absolutely LOVE having Simon and Matt back...Read full review »

Love their banter and recommendations. Even went to the extreme of buying Knife Edge from UK since couldn’t get in Canada. It was worth the exchange rate 👍

These two are great. Still missing the radio 2 drive home, but this is refreshing and have been introduced to loads of new authors. Thanks guys.

I used to enjoy this podcast but have unsubscribed because I’m so bored by the fact that it’s just male author after male author these days. Time to redress the balance guys.

Really enjoy this podcast. It has given me entertainment, ( like you both did back in the Radio 2 days), food for thought, great ideas for gifts, all of which I can read first!

I love this podcast. They have a great variety of authors which has introduced me to books I otherwise wouldn’t have tried. Simon and Matt are very entertaining and make a great double act, if only they were back on the radio together....😉

I adore this podcast! I have listened to Simon and Matt talk about books since their Radio 2 days, and they keep getting more interesting. Simon is also a wonderful writer, and I enjoyed his latest novel, Knife’s Edge. Keep up the good work, gentlemen!

Just listened to Ben Macintyre with Simon (and eventually Matt). Another excellent episode about a single book which opens up lots of interesting issues. Who did the KGB learn their spy craft from? I have been inspired to read several books after the great interviews on this podcast. The Q and A...Read full review »

Thumbs up from a new listener. Just listened to the Alastair Campbell interview and am half way through the q&a episode that follows. It’s great - light hearted, funny, interesting. I love everything Simon Mayo does, so I was excited to find this after missing the BBC2 book review podcast. Mayo is excellent as ever, but unfortunately the podcast is rendered completely unlistenable by the incredibly irritating loud false laughter of the other guy. A great disappointment.

The problem with this podcast is the number of books that the listener ends up buying because the interviewers are so good they bring out the best in the writers and make EVERY book - fact or fiction - appealing. It’s terrible! Whether in the studio, or recording from attic and spare bedroom,...Read full review »
