I love these podcasts, always interesting and informative, but good fun too. I’m a Titanic buff, which is how I found the podcast, but also a fan of the Tudors and the early 20th century Royals, so I’m all over this podcast! Gareth is very good company - I am a very fussy listener, but highly...Read full review »

I have discovered Gareth Russell as a guest on other podcasts I follow. Then, I realized he had a podcast and began listening. There is something so natural and salt/of-the/earth in his presentation. He has a true gift for making a monologue feel like a conversation in which you are involved. ...Read full review »

I discovered Gareth and his work a few years ago and have been hooked ever since…. (Also, myself being a huge Tudor enthusiast!). I think his work is brilliant!

Gareth could present any content and it would be great just because his style is so pleasant and funny without losing credibility. But he’s so well researched that I frequently listen to the same episodes multiple times to catch details I missed the first time around. I have no notes.

I love this podcast! I appreciate that Gareth covers a wide variety of historical topics, and I have learned some fascinating things on subjects I typically wouldn’t gravitate too. His lilting Irish voice is wonderful to listen to, and he is a gifted conversationalist who makes every interview...Read full review »

To put it simply Gareth is wonderful with words. Even when he fumbles he is brilliant. Gareth talks about history with facts and feeling. He is able to take a modern approach without looking at history with strictly modern goggles. My favourite thing about Gareth’s podcast and social media is...Read full review »

This is my new favorite podcast - I heard about it from Charles CW Cooke. I thoroughly enjoy the variety of topics. The Titanic and Lusitania episodes were great. I would love to hear more about the Middle Ages (like the Henry I episode), as things before The Wars of The Roses are a bit fuzzy.

Just listened to the Anne Boleyn episode and the writing (and reading) was outstanding. He makes a story with a known ending absolutely gripping!

I love this podcast. I basically get to listen to a fabulous accent while also learning about some of the most scandalous and perhaps misunderstood moments in history.

I am only on episode 3, but thoroughly enjoying this podcast. Well respected historian, with a charming Irish accent, which has had me giggling at work, with his description of a Emperor’s fancy dress outfit to the Hippodrome, and his off script moments.

What a wonderful interview Gareth! Your laugh is infectious. Happy to discover you here after enjoying your books on K. Howard and the Titanic. Thanks for introducing me to Charlotte, and to watch Spanish Princess second season. Best wishes- Kathryn Henry
