A cross between the Gabfests and Planet Money
I only started listening to these because they’re in my Slate+ feed. It has a similar format to a lot of the other Slate podcasts- three segments, three people talking about the topics, but at the end they have their “numbers round” instead of recommendations, which to me seems like a direct knock-off of the Planet Money Indicator, but is nice enough. I guess my problem with it is that it seems to be halfway between the Gabfests and the Planet Money podcast, and it’s not really as good as either- the reporting isn’t as in-depth and explanatory as Planet Money, but the discussions aren’t as long or opinionated as the Gabfests. I think it should probably try to go more in the Gabfest direction and make an hour-long podcast instead of the measly half hour and take on some more contentious issues to differentiate itself more from its competitors.
