“I just recently started listening to this podcast and have been slowly making my way through the episodes. Things I like about the podcast: Dana Stevens. She's warm, intelligent, and funny; her conversational tone is remarkably free of pretension, but she still manages to talk about the films in ways that are both smart and perceptive. I like the basic idea of the podcast -- that is, it's nice to at least occasionally here a review in which the reviewer doesn't feel it necessary to tiptoe around the facts of the film. Things I don't like: While I am a fan of Stevens, her partners have ranged from pretty good to not so good. I wonder whether it might be possible to build a better chemistry if the show adopted a regular co-host. The show tends to review big "box office" films at the expense of smaller, indy movies; it might be nice if they could broaden their focus a bit. I'm not sure, for example, that we need anyone to tell us that INVICTUS is a crappy movie.”Read full review »
