“Man, I so badly wanted to like this podcast. I really did. There’s a lot of great subject matter and a few fantastic guests, but Linus (who sounds like a nice enough guy) lacks the ability to engage guests and audience. Just when he finds his stride, eliciting some interesting storytelling, he interrupts to ask a pointless question such as a date or the number of times that a mundane action occurred, or how something might relate to his own experience... and the promise of magic is scuppered. It’s not a police report; it’s an interview for entertainment.
Linus obviously has the chops to line up some great guests, but then he stumbles over them like a middle school kid at a sockhop, or ransomes the conclusion of an interview for an undeserved Patreon pledge. Until the horrible sound quality (I’m referring to phone or VOIP, not a snuffling dog) and interview skills improve, I’m afraid that I’ll have to go elsewhere. The last straw for me began with Linus’ explanation of his own electrified lifelines and an intended solution of Dyneema replacements (what? instead of tracking down the fault?), and then a poorly researched and executed interview of Don MacEntyre. Seriously? MacEntyre is one of the single most interesting human beings on the planet and supremely gifted at self-promotion. How can anyone flub an interview that requires little impetus or guidance?”
