Honestly, pretty sexist
A male co-wroker recommended this podcast to me after our fantasy football draft last year (you'll see why I included his gender after my explanation for this review's rating). I'm going to say that I have only listened to the Fantasy Movie Draft episodes, and even with those, I stopped listening as of writing this review. I really like the concept. I love drafts, whether for sports or a deadpool for a TV show like GoT. And I enjoyed the episodes I listened to until I started to notice something; so I looked at the descriptions of all them and tallied up who the guests were for for which episodes. The majority of the episodes have only men as guests to be part of the draft and talk about movies. Not counting Krissy, as she is a co-host and therefore already part of the show. The episodes which do actually feature all females ("Ladies Night" episodes) are OF COURSE about as movie genres as stereotypical as you can get: romantic comedies, Disney movies, 80s teen movies, and couples. Looking at any movie draft which was about sports, horror, action, or comics, not a single female is included. Outside of that, on other draft episodes, females only represent 8.5% of guests. I see why my male co-worker recommended this. Because it relates to him. It's a group of dudes talking about movies, and for the most part, only giving a voice to females when it's "girly" subject matter. I hope Justin and Krissy see this review as a way to improve this great concept they have while not playing into reinforcing stereotypes.Read full review »
